When it comes to student data, trust matters.

District leaders work hard to bring in tools families and teachers love—while making sure student information stays private, protected, and compliant with state and federal laws. At ClassDojo, we’re committed to making that easier. That’s why we’re excited to share another big step forward.

We’ve officially partnered with The Education Cooperative (TEC) through their Standardized Data Privacy Agreement (SDPA). This nationally recognized, multi-state agreement removes legal friction and fast-tracks adoption for districts across multiple states.

The result: faster rollouts, less red tape, and stronger protections from day one.

One agreement. Multiple states. Streamlined adoption.

The TEC SDPA is a pre-vetted agreement that gives K–12 districts a fully compliant, FERPA- and COPPA-aligned framework for working with approved edtech tools. Built on the National Data Privacy Agreement (NDPA), it reduces the need for one-off legal negotiations between each district and vendor.

Now that ClassDojo is part of TEC’s network of 1,800+ vetted tools, district leaders can adopt our platform through a shared legal framework—no redlines, no delays.

“District leaders face constant pressure to balance innovation with responsibility,” said Chad A. Stevens, Ph.D., ClassDojo’s Head of K–12 Engagement.

“This agreement gives them both—speed and simplicity. Our goal is to make it easier for districts to focus on what matters most: building connected, thriving school communities.”

What this means for your team:

  • A compliant, FERPA- and COPPA-aligned data privacy agreement
  • No need for district-specific negotiations
  • Less work for legal and IT teams
  • A faster, districtwide rollout of a tool already loved in your classrooms

Trusted tools, vetted access

This agreement reflects months of collaboration between TEC’s legal team and ClassDojo’s compliance and district partnership teams—and our ongoing commitment to helping districts scale trusted, secure solutions.

"District leaders want to adopt tools that families and teachers love—without compromising on privacy," said Stacy Hawthorne, Chief Academic Officer of Learn21, a TEC member, and CoSN Board Chair. "This agreement with ClassDojo shows what's possible when vendors prioritize privacy and proactively partner with the education community."

With more than 95% of U.S. K–8 schools already using ClassDojo, this partnership unlocks greater consistency, stronger alignment, and districtwide implementation—without compromising on compliance.

Districts Beyond TEC: You’re covered, too

Our partnership with TEC is just one part of a bigger picture. We’ve also executed the National Data Privacy Agreement (NDPA) in states across the country through the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC).

If your state has an SDPC alliance, you can likely join an existing ClassDojo agreement by simply countersigning Exhibit E—no extra negotiation needed. You can find all agreements in the SDPC Resource Registry. Need help locating your state’s? Email privacy@classdojo.com and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Why it matters

With more than 95% of K–8 schools in the U.S. already using ClassDojo at the classroom level, we know how much educators value tools that connect families and teachers. These agreements make it easier to bridge the gap between classroom use and districtwide adoption.

At ClassDojo, we’re committed to connecting classrooms, families, and communities while keeping student privacy at the center. This partnership with TEC brings us even closer to that goal.

A big thank-you to TEC, Learn21, Access 4 Learning, and the many district leaders who made this possible. We’re proud to support the safe, connected schools your students deserve.
